She’Koyokh are Britain’s best klezmer and Balkan music band”
Songlines
Welcome to She’Koyokh!
She’Koyokh is a Yiddish expression meaning “nice one!”. We are a London-based, eight-piece ensemble performing songs, folk tunes and wedding dances from practically every Eastern European country you can think of.
We started out ten years ago playing klezmer music – the Jewish
wedding music of Eastern European communities. We soon became fascinated by Gypsy music and folk music of the Balkans, travelling to Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece to study with master musicians.
We play concerts, weddings, parties and festivals worldwide. We have been nominated for ‘Best Group’ in the Songlines World Music Awards 2012, and will be performing on the BBC Radio 3 stage at WOMAD this year.
